ABOUT BYRON PARKER

THE MAN BEHIND THE STANDARD.

THE MAN BEHIND THE STANDARD.

Before The 28 Standards became a leadership framework, they were lessons learned through competition, pressure, family, education, failure, transition, and the responsibility to lead people well.

THE IDENTITY

FOOTBALL WAS NOT WHO I WAS. FOOTBALL WAS WHAT I DID.

FOOTBALL WAS NOT WHO I WAS. FOOTBALL WAS WHAT I DID.

For ten years, professional football gave Byron Parker a uniform, a number, a platform, and a demanding standard of preparation. Retirement required a deeper question: Who remains when the uniform comes off?

THE JOURNEY

THE SCOREBOARD CHANGED. THE COMPETITOR DID NOT.

THE SCOREBOARD CHANGED. THE COMPETITOR DID NOT.

THE SCOREBOARD CHANGED. THE COMPETITOR DID NOT.

01

BASKETBALL

Basketball was Byron Parker’s first love. Competition, performance, and the pursuit of excellence shaped his earliest vision of the future.

02

PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL

A new path became a ten year professional football career built through preparation, discipline, resilience, adaptability, teamwork, and pressure.

03

THE NUMBER 28

Number 28 became connected to performance, responsibility, identity, and legacy. The number eventually became larger than the jersey.

04

LIFE AFTER THE GAME

Retirement in 2014 created a difficult transition from occupation to identity. The uniform was gone, but the lessons, discipline, and leadership remained.

05

EDUCATION AND ATHLETIC LEADERSHIP

Schools and athletics became the next field. Leadership shifted toward developing students, coaches, educators, teams, families, and organizational culture.

06

PARKER LEADERSHIP GROUP

The stories, relationships, failures, victories, and lessons became The 28 Standards and the foundation of Parker Leadership Group.

WHY 28?

I NO LONGER WEAR 28. I TEACH IT.

I NO LONGER WEAR 28. I TEACH IT.

When Byron Parker arrived in Toronto, 28 was simply the number he was given. Over time, it became connected to preparation, discipline, pressure, resilience, accountability, and the responsibility to perform when the moment mattered. Today, the jersey represents how he competed. The 28 Standards represent how he chooses to lead.

THE PHILOSOPHY

LEADERSHIP MUST BECOME VISIBLE.

LEADERSHIP MUST BECOME VISIBLE.

01 IDENTITY

Leadership begins with who remains when the title, position, uniform, applause, and circumstances change.

02 GROWTH

Leadership develops through patience, teaching, correction, preparation, accountability, discomfort, and the humility to keep learning.

03 INFLUENCE

Leadership becomes visible through what people model, protect, reward, correct, and refuse to tolerate.

04 LEGACY

Leadership continues through the people, families, teams, systems, and values that remain after the position ends.

I AM NOT A SELF MADE MAN.

I AM NOT A SELF MADE MAN.

Every chapter of the journey was shaped by people who taught, challenged, corrected, protected, trusted, fed, believed, and loved. Parker Leadership Group exists to carry those lessons forward and place them within reach of the next leader.

THE NEXT STANDARD MUST BECOME VISIBLE THROUGH THE LEADER.

THE NEXT STANDARD MUST BECOME VISIBLE THROUGH THE LEADER.

Bring Byron Parker and The 28 Standards into a school, athletic program, business, team, conference, or leadership organization.

LEAD AT HOME

LEADERSHIP BEGINS CLOSEST TO HOME.

LEADERSHIP BEGINS CLOSEST TO HOME.

The people closest to a leader should not receive the leftovers of leadership. Fatherhood, family, presence, sacrifice, and responsibility are central to Byron Parker’s understanding of legacy.

THE TRUEST MEASURE OF LEADERSHIP IS WHAT BECOMES STRONGER BECAUSE THE LEADER WAS PRESENT.

The Standard tells where the lessons came from. The Playbook helps leaders reflect and apply them. The Planner turns the Standards into daily preparation, action, and accountability.
